Training Tips and Fun and Helpful Tid Bits for
the Paws-A-Tive
Pet
In order for your
canine companion to fully understand what is being asked of him, be
sure your cues are accurate. Sometimes what we think we are asking
our dog to do, is coming across as something
different.
For example, if you'd like your dog to
"sit". Give him a hand signal to sit, or ask him in a friendly tone
of voice to "sit".
If you tell your dog to "sit down". This
is a confusing command for him; especially if he has learned to lie
down when the cue is given as "down".
The dog will hear, "sit down" and will
not know which one to do, sit or lie down.
So remember, before you become frustrated
with your canine pal for not doing what you told him to do, check
your own cue system. You just might be sending conflicting
cues.
Happy Training!
