As 2017 Comes to a Close...

Hi, Friends -

As usual, time has gotten away from me. I tend to post more things on the Paws-A-Tive Choice, LLC Facebook page, then I do here.

As 2017 draws to a close, I want to share some of the accomplishments by our wonderful students. We have a few who have been actively competing in Rally Obedience and K9 Nose Work. I am so very proud of all of my students; not only those who choose to compete. My students come to Paws-A-Tive Choice, LLC to have fun with their dogs and learn a variety of skills; whether they are obedience related, agility; K9 Nose Work or for assistance with behavioral concerns, I truly have a devoted group of students.

It is because of their love and devotion to their canine companions, that Paws-A-Tive Choice, LLC just celebrated our 10 Year Anniversary! My, oh my how quickly time flies!

I was busy attending a variety of seminars and workshops throughout the year. I had a working spot with my dog, Turbo at a Ron Gaunt NW3 seminar. Ron is one of the founders of NACSW and always shares a wealth of knowledge.

I judged an Odor Recognition Test back in June. I always enjoy judging those. I learn so much from watching each dog and handler.

I volunteered for a few K9 Nose Work Trials; again always a great experience. I highly encourage my students and other K9 Nose Work enthusiasts to volunteer at trials. You can learn so much by volunteering and observing other dogs and handlers.

The Dana Zinn Seminar was fantastic. She is part of the NACSW Faculty. That was a very fun K9 Nose Work weekend.

In August, I taught a K9 Nose Work Competition Prep workshop for my students and other K9 enthusiasts. We had a nice turn out and even did a Mock NW1 Trial so all participants could get a feel of what it would be like at a trial.

In September I held a K9 Sniff-N-Go at the Waterford Fire and Rescue Station. The funds raised went to the Waterford Fire and Rescue Department.

We had a lot of fun at our Trick Dog Demo and Meet-N-Greet with our Certified Trick Dog Instructor, Cheryl Cieslinski on December 16, 2017. Cheryl demonstrated a number of fun skills with her Basset hounds, Xena, Pixel and Josie.

Cheryl will be teaching a Trick Dog class starting January 4, 2018. There are still a couple of spots left, if you would like to teach your pup some fun tricks. Visit the Class Schedule for details on the class.

2018 has a lot in store. We will be adding more classes; holding more seminars; speaking of, Dr. Manette Kohler of Helping Hand Veterinary Counseling and myself, will be doing a Lunch-n-Learn at Cafe 213 in Waterford, WI on January 21, 2018. For details and registration, click here

February 17, 2018 I will be holding a K9 Nose Work demonstration for a 4H group. Plans are still in the works for that event.

As more classes and events are happening, I will post them on the website, but most announcments will take place on the Paws-A-Tive Choice, LLC Facebook page. So if you are not already following us on Facebook, please do. Would love to see you there.

I have much to be thankful for and am so very thankful for all the devoted students who train at Paws-A-Tive Choice, LLC.

I am honored to have Cathy Los teaching our Rally Obedience classes and Jean Jahnke teaching our Reactive Dog Program and our Shy Dog Program. Both of these professional trainers do an outstanding job and truly are experts in their field.

As I look forward to the upcoming year, I reflect back on all that has happened, not only during 2017, but over the past 10 years since I opened my learning center in 2007. Here's to another 10 years of helping dogs and families live in harmony.

Thank you for visiting our website. I hope to see you and your canine companion in 2018.

Stay pawsative and remember to always train happy!
